While the heart of the Black business community in our region including our founder is based in New Bedford, our efforts are focused on inclusion of all Southcoast cities and towns. We are focused on deepening our roots within the Southcoast versus spreading wider.
-
There are systemic implications to building these supportive ecosystems for Black-owned businesses. Thriving Black-owned businesses are a critical component of closing the racial wealth gap. This gap in business activity contributes to an overall lower level of prosperity for Black families; the median white family’s wealth is more than ten times the wealth of the median Black family. Buy Black NB acknowledges the historical predominance of white-centered narratives and seeks to elevate the Black experience within the discourse.

Buy Black NB currently maintains a public-facing website, engaging community partners to create new programming. Outreach is done through our website, quarterly newsletters to our subscribers, regular social media posts, and cross-promotion with community partners.
